Meet Trailblazer Olga Keskintepe and Maria Jaramillo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olga Keskintepe and Maria Jaramillo. After Olga found her passion for making people feel better about themselves through waxing and sugaring, she opened the first Organic Wax & Sugaring in Alpharetta many years ago. She loved what she was doing, and the business was growing rapidly. Being born and raised in a big city, she always dreamed of having her business in the heart of Atlanta.

Maria had a strong background in skincare and hair removal and shared the same idea that great services with the best products should be affordable for everybody. They both knew and loved the Midtown/Virginia Highland area, and they decided to unite and bring their dreams of a business that uses all organic and all natural products to life. The rest is history, and now, Organic Wax & Sugaring is the highest rated place in the area based on clients’ reviews.

They know that natural and organic products are always better for clients’ skin, but they are also harder for estheticians to work with. Now, they have beginner and advanced training for professionals who want to start or boost their sugaring and waxing skills. They travel internationally to different esthetic shows and are always on top of the latest trends in our industry because they want to make sure that their clients and estheticians are getting the best.

Their motto is: “Organic changes everything!”.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Of course, as any other business owners will tell you, our road has not been smooth. Sugaring was not known in the United States when we started working with it. It was a challenge to find organic and natural products; we are still bringing them from Europe. We also had to introduce and educate our clients about sugaring and why it is better compared to waxing. We had to train all our estheticians because they never worked with all organic and natural products before. Our advice for somebody who just started their journey is to find what they love. We firmly believe that if you like something, you will eventually succeed at it! It will take time, so prepare and have resources estimating that you won’t be profitable on the first day of opening your business. You have a business partner who you can trust as good as yourself is a big plus.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Organic Wax & Sugaring – what should we know?
We are well-known for all types of female and male hair removal with organic sugaring paste and all natural wax. We also provide skincare services, and more treatments are coming every fall as that is the best time to make a difference in your skin.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olga Keskintepe

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always dreamed about possibility to own my business, I am also a people person who enjoys being around people and helping them. I have moved to Atlanta 20 years ago, enrolled at an esthetic school where I quickly realized that waxing and sugaring was my passion as it would help my clients feel great about themselves. After graduating from the esthetic school and getting continue education training, I eventually opened my own place “Organic Sugaring and Waxing”, where we specialize in hair removal and solely use organic products that we import directly from a factory in Tuscany, Italy, where they exclusively customize organic products that fits our client’s needs. Through utilizing our relationship directly with this quality factory, we are able to manage both quality and reasonable pricing. It enables us to keep our affordable pricing as well as high quality products. Our Full Brazilian Wax is only 30$ our Brazilian Sugaring is only 40$.

Has it been a smooth road?
Since we were the first to introduce Atlanta to sugaring and organic waxing, we had the responsibility to educate our clients on how vital is it for them and their skin to use ALL ORGANIC wax and sugaring paste to reduce the skin irritation.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Firstly, we wouldn’t be in business without our loyal clients whom have supported us and our business throughout the years, as well as our quality educated, friendly and professional Estheticians who provide the best possible service to our dear clients. In addition our product providers whom we worked with on choosing the highest quality of products that help our clients to meet their needs.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Atlanta is a great city for organic wax and sugaring.

One Step at a Time

When I made my appointment with Organic Wax & Sugaring they were very professional and worked with my schedule.

I started my sugaring journey about a year ago and I've never looked back. Since then I've been to many waxing studios and I've realized that not everyone will wax you the same way. Some people are quick, meanwhile, others are slow. Some make it painful and others make it painless. I've been through it all in the last 14 months and I know a good salon when I see one.

When I made my appointment with Organic Wax & Sugaring they were very professional and worked with my schedule. As I arrived, I was greeted with the woman at the front desk. The space itself is very beautiful and well decorated. The room is bright and creates an environment where one feels relaxed and fresh,

I worked with Olga this evening and I'm convinced I could not have been treated any better. As I sat in the room she explained the process to me and walked me through the difference between normal waxing and sugaring.

Brazilian Waxing: The wax is applied in the direction of the hair and then removed against it. For my sensitive ladies, this can be an issue. When waxing, the paste sticks to the actual skin and can pull some of the skin. This can cause redness or burning.

Sugar Waxing: The wax is applied in the opposite direction of the hair growth and removed in the direction of the growth. When sugaring, the sugar only sticks to the hair follicles and dead skin. I decided to go with the sugaring treatment because I've found it's what works best with my skin. Sugaring leaves me less irritated overall and let's be honest, I'm a huge fan of anything organic.

As I was getting waxed, Olga told me story from her childhood that really made me connect with her. She said that sugaring is something that can be traced years and years back. When women would hang out and have girl time, they would make the sugar paste themselves. In fact, it's very easy to make. It's simply sugar, lemon juice and water! When women had their girl's night, they would sometimes bring the younger girls along as well. The younger girls, like always, wanted to be just like the mommies. So what would they do before waxing each other? they would dip sticks into the wax and give them to the younger girls and then send them off to play. While the girls played, the mommies took turns waxing each other.

I found this story to be genuine and entertaining. It kept my mind off the waxing and by the time she was done telling the story, the waxing process was almost done.

Olga was quick and always warned me before pulling. She also applied pressure to ease the pain after she pulled.

Will I be coming back? Yes, most definitely!

I went ahead and booked my appointment for next month and I look forward to seeing her again! If you're new to waxing or if you want to know more about the process, I would recommend you pay this place a visit. They do an incredible job at informing you and letting you know exactly what's going on!

Best Wishes!
